first, thanks to everyone who has given me their two cents about kits. it was very helpful. i used the random number generator and it told me the winners are…
Ann, Joya, and Kat
I guess I’ll be spending the next two months turning skeins into kits and deciding what I need to dye come August. We have been pretty slow moving over here, and then, with two kidlets, it will be even more slow moving. Must plan ahead!
i’m putting on clearance all of the spinning fiber in the shop! usually $17 for 4 oz, now only $13. they’ve been sitting around my house way too long, and may look a bit tatty… but trust me, they still spin awesome. it is the hazzard of having soft shortish spinning fiber.
if you order 3 or more, i’ll knock the price even lower to $12/braid. after you buy, i’ll refund the money over paypal. i’m only shipping on friday/saturday right now, so you’ll have to wait a little if you shop early in the week ;)
also, if the shipping ends up being way less than charged, i’ll refund after i go to the post office. this especially applies to international.
i still have a couple of pictures to take – 2 colorways corriedale and some muted green/grey/blue falkland. as a special i’ll also be putting up 3 braids of red/pink/orange/purple colorways to be bought together for $30. i should have those up later today. in the meantime, browse here!
as you all know, if you’ve been following me a while, my business appears to change at least a bit each year. sometimes a lot. there was the time i gave up my art hat knitting for yarn dyeing and designing. there was the short time i had a little studio. there was the time i gave up craft fairs to do fiber shows…
so many changes! and now, with baby number two pending, i’m thinking of another change. it will just be temporary, but i’m thinking of dyeing and making kits for some of my patterns. it seems more manageable than keeping lots of yarn in stock at all times and then maybe i can even market the kits to yarn stores? anyhow, it would be great if you could take the following poll and help me decide what to focus on! you can pick more than one and please list in the other space or comment on this post with any particular patterns you’d like to see in kit form.
here are the patterns, if you need to be refreshed.
and to sweeten the deal, i’ll draw 3 names on the 6th of February in the morning and give each person one free pattern of their choice… please leave a comment in the comment section if you’d like to be in the drawing. thanks for the help!
when a good friend turned 40 this year, i knew she needed something special. that is when i stole a skein of handspun she bought from me and knit these for her. i didn’t think she’d get around to doing it for quite a while otherwise ;)
i’ve always wanted to make these mittens by Elizabeth Zimmermann, because they look so awesome in handspun. so this seemed like a good time (ahem, excuse) to do so. raveled here.
then i had some yarn left, so i figured she needed a hat. i was tempted to make a reflection hat because they look so good in handspun, but no. couldn’t do that. instead i made her this tree hat. i’m thinking about writing up the pattern… we’ll see if i get around to it before the babe is born. raveled here.
and here it is on her head.
