call for test knitters: permafrost hat

EDIT: okay!  i have my testers.  thanks to everyone who volunteered.  i never expected so many eager folks.  thank you all so much and i’ll spread the test knitting love around with each pattern.  funny that i never thought to ask you all before.

hi blog readers,
i was wondering if any of you would like to test knit this hat? unfortunately, i can only pay in patterns and showing off your version on the blog.  here are the specs:

permafrost hat

Yarn: x(145) yd [x(133)m] worsted weight wool
Needles: Size 7 US [4.5 mm] 16 in. [40.6 cm] circular and a set of dpns in the same size, or whatever size needles you need to get gauge
Gauge: 5 sts and 7 rows/in. [2.5 cm]
Sizes: S(M/L), 21(22-23) in. [53(56-58.5 cm] head

i would love to have someone do the larger size and someone do the smaller size. it’s a bit of a complicated pattern – writing wise, not knitting wise. so i’m mostly looking for clarity of instructions and double checking of the charts.  i do require that it be knit out of wool.  this one was recycled sweater cashmere, but i did another out of ella rae plain wool (similar to cascade 220).  email me at if interested.  oh!  and yardage for the smaller size would be great ;)

p.s. I’m also going to have a lace seaman’s scarf that will need test knitting soon.

  1. I know you’ve already got your testers, but thought I would pop up and say how cute this hat is! I love to use seed stitch as an accent border, too. The way you’ve used it here is so sweet!

  2. I love this hat! I know you have your testers already… sorry I missed out on that.
But, I really want this pattern when it comes out if you have it to share or purchase!!
    Keep me posted.
