brown stripe bucket hat

the commission i said i needed to work on… and i apparently got right on that.

the job is: the woman who commissioned me made a scarf, then i took the left over yarns and makes a hat to go with it. it’s good for me and it’s good for her love of scarf knitting and lack of time.

ingredients:
blue sky alpacas sport or dk weight (i’m not sure which…)
cascade 220
and some other very nice wool

size 6 needles

the request was a picot edge and something loose on the head. i love how this one turned out and am thinking of a pattern. i’ve been really adoring the loose hat biz and here’s a couple more i threw in the percolator with this one to think about. the problem with using exactly what i did in this hat for the pattern? 3 different weights of wool ;) fun for me, not so fun for those trying to be all anal and gauge swatchy…

it’s just such a sweet little hat.

hahahah! that is hilarious. i like that phrase. i also like the picot edging. never tried that before.

  2. I agree, that is a neat hat. I’m a big fan of various browns, and I’ve been looking around my stash and I have a lot of bits and bobs that would work well with your design.
