for the boys
October 3, 2007in the coming weeks i need to work on:
men’s fingerless mitts, women’s mittens and fingerless mitts, men’s hats in multiple sizes, children’s hats, neck things, and more snow bunnies. sounds like a lot of work! that said, here are a couple for the boys.
this is the hat that i knit during the craft fair on sunday… therefore i have a knitting tan, a place on each arm where my arm tan dips in because my elbows were bent all day. tee hee. unfortunately ben and i could not get the correct color no matter what background we used, so you’ll just have to believe me – it is more green than it looks. seems i always have trouble with greens.
moonshine hat
ingredients:
my hand dyed recycled sweater wool
dark green recycled sweater wool
size medium/large
this one has been somewhat done for a while, but lacked finishing.
trash compactor hat
ingredients:
donegal tweed homespun
mountain colors mill end
size medium/large

Your pictures made me realize I need to wear more hats. Hats aren’t just functional but totally damn cute. Love your colors as always :)
I got yelled at once for not having “guy colors” in my mittens. I don’t want to dye my yarn grey and black, where’s the fun in that? Bah. As if they’d wear them anyway. I did throw them a bone this year though, I’ve got a blue and brown pair. Is that good enough?
Where did you find such a sleepy Northern-European-looking model?
The water-coloury blues on the second hat are lovely. The trash compactors in Vancouver are pretty decorative these days too…
I love the stripes! Very fun.
