yarn room – looking better

October 2, 2007

i know, i know… two posts in one day. but i couldn’t not show you the yarn room. yesterday, i transformed it from chaos and craziness into something workable, and if you’ll excuse the slight blurriness of the photos (there’s a tree right outside the window), i’ll give you the pictoral tour. it will have some shelves up high on the left hand wall above the coffee table, but the stud finder doesn’t work through new paint?!?? so it won’t be for a bit. wonder how long you have to wait…

anyhow, here’s looking in from the outside

the front left corner right when you walk in

and if you are even more curious, you can see notes on all of these pictures over at my flickr. i must say, that my thrown together set up is not nearly as cool as annie’s new craft space that she made herself! but i like it and it will do for me. now i can knit… er i mean now i can finish up my last graduate school class that is due very soon.

welcome to the new home of cosy knits (literally). it’s nice to have a place.

the only thing ever knit for me

October 2, 2007

today i have a show and tell. this mitten

the only thing anyone has ever knit for me

is the only thing that anyone has ever knit for me. or, rather, this pair of mittens, since there were once two. i used to wear them on cold mornings during my bike ride to work when i lived in missoula. as you can imagine, i deeply lament the loss of the other mitten and am pondering a good way to enshrine this one. currently, it resides in one of my knitting bowls in the yarn room, exuding woolie goodness and beautiful form.

i must say that this is much more than just a mitten to me. in fact, it could easily take part of the blame for getting me started knitting. first came these mittens, then my friend robyn was knitting, and it was all downhill from there.

anyhow, i bring this mitten up today because my friend jessica, the knitter of this mitten, has recently started her own blog: thistledown. currently in the fiber arts program at capilano college, there is no lack of lovely artsy craftsy textile based goodness on this blog and since i’m blaming her for part of my fiber arts habit to begin with, i think it’s only fair that i also tell you that she is the one who got me addicted to craft blogs in the first place. jessica – glad you have finally entered the fray. everyone, go read her blog and look at her lovely work. welcome. welcome.
